Coosa County Jail Roster
The official Coosa County jail roster is published by the Coosa County Sheriff's Office, led by Sheriff Michael Howell. The sheriff's public Inmate Roster page embeds a separate roster application for Coosa County Jail. That app identifies the sheriff's office, lets a user switch between Current and Released views, and offers search paths for inmate names, charge descriptions, and recent-day admissions. The roster does not post a refresh schedule, so a very recent booking or release can lag behind the live jail desk.
Coosa County Jail in Rockford is the local custody point for pretrial detainees, county-sentenced inmates, municipal arrestees transferred into county custody, and people held on court, warrant, or bond matters. The roster is not an Alabama prison search, a federal inmate locator, or an immigration detention database. Sentenced felony prisoners transfer to Alabama Department of Corrections custody after state sentencing, and federal or immigration matters can move outside Coosa County entirely.
Use Coosa County Inmate Search
The sheriff roster can be reached from the sheriff's website or through the embedded Coosa County roster app. The cleanest search starts with a last name or a partial name. The app autocomplete begins after two characters, and the grid can still be filtered after results load. When the name is common or spelling is uncertain, the Current/Released toggle, Days search, and Charges tab help test whether the record is recent, old, or charge-based.
- Open the sheriff roster page, then leave the toggle on Current for a person believed to be held at Coosa County Jail.
- Select the Inmates tab and type at least two letters of the person's name. Use the suggested match or finish the spelling and press Search.
- Use View all inmates when the spelling is unclear, then filter the grid by Full Name, Age, Race, Sex, or Admit Date.
- Switch to Released mode if the person was recently bonded, transferred, or discharged. The released grid adds Release Date and Time in Jail.
- Open the linked Full Name to review the profile for booking photo, admit date, charges, bond, court type, and agency fields.
- Use the Charges tab when the name is unknown but the charge description is known. Charge descriptions link back to inmates tied to that charge.
Note: If a person does not appear online, call the jail before assuming there is no custody record.
Coosa County Roster Fields
The roster is more flexible than a single name box. The search home has three tabs, while the current, released, and charge grids have their own filters. The public screenshots in the manifest match the roster screens, so the fields below use the exact labels captured from the Coosa system rather than generic jail-search labels.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Current / Released | Radio toggle | One selected | Current is the default. Released switches to former-inmate screens. |
| Inmates tab | Navigation tab | No | Opens name search for current or released inmates. |
| By name | Text input | No | Autocomplete starts after two characters. |
| Charges tab | Navigation tab | No | Searches by charge description instead of person name. |
| Days tab | Number input | No | Searches recent admissions by number of days. The placeholder value is 5. |
| Full Name | Grid column and filter | No | Name is a profile link in current and released grids. |
| Admit Date | Date column and filter | No | Grid date filter uses a calendar picker. |
| Release Date | Date column and filter | No | Shown only in the released-inmates grid. |
The current inmates grid shows the public result columns used for Coosa County jail records.
The grid matters because it is the bridge between a broad roster search and the full profile. Filtering the visible columns can be faster than guessing a full spelling at the search-home screen.
Coosa County Inmate Profile
A Coosa County inmate profile shows both identity fields and charge-row fields. The public sample inspected for the research included a booking photo panel, a header name, date of birth, physical descriptors, admit date and time, address, confining agency, and a charge grid. The public page did not show a booking number, housing unit, warrant number, judge name, projected release date, phone number, Social Security number, or driver's license number.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Full Name | Clickable name in the grid and large name header on the profile. |
| Mugshot | Booking image with a large-image pop-up and a next-photo control when supported by the app. |
| Date of Birth | Full birth date on the detail profile. Use care with this sensitive field. |
| Race / Sex | Abbreviated demographic codes in the grid and profile. |
| Eye / Hair / Height / Weight | Physical descriptors recorded during booking or intake. |
| Admit Date / Admit Time | The jail admission timestamp used by the roster instead of a separate booking-date label. |
| Confining Agency | The agency responsible for custody in the roster profile. |
| Charge | Charge description, with links to charge-filtered roster results. |
| Court Type / Court Date | Court level and date tied to each visible charge row. |
| Bond / Bond Type | Per-charge bond amount and type when set, such as surety bond. |
| Release Date / Time In Jail | Fields shown on the released-inmates grid, not on the current grid. |
Coosa County Record Access
The online roster is only one access channel. If the app is offline, the spelling is wrong, a release is too new, or a record is not meant for the roster, use the sheriff's phone and in-person channels. The Coosa County Sheriff's Office lists public phone numbers 256-377-2211 and 256-377-4922, and the office address is 296 School Street, Rockford, AL 35136. The sheriff's contact page also provides the official web contact form.
For a copy of a booking record, incident report, or jail record not visible online, use sheriff contact channels and the county's official open records form and resolution as the county-level request path. A practical request should name the person, list the admit date if known, identify the record sought, and include contact information. Formal court charges, certified copies, and case filings belong with the Coosa Circuit Clerk rather than the jail. The clerk's office also provides an in-office public access computer.

Coosa Jail vs State Prison
The county roster covers local jail custody, not every person with a Coosa County case. A person may start in the Coosa County Jail after arrest, then post bond, transfer to another agency, or later enter state prison after conviction and sentencing. Once the person is in Alabama Department of Corrections custody, the correct search is the ADOC inmate locator. ADOC states that its locator covers current ADOC inmates only, has no online historical data, gives priority to the six-digit AIS number, and caps displayed name results at 50.
| Custody Type | Where to Look | Important Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Coosa pretrial or county sentence | Coosa County jail roster, jail phone, or sheriff office | Roster refresh and released-retention timing are not posted. |
| Sentenced Alabama prisoner | ADOC inmate locator and ADOC records office | Current ADOC inmates only, with no historical online database. |
| Federal sentenced prisoner | Federal BOP locator | BOP custody is separate from county booking records. |
| Immigration detention | ICE Online Detainee Locator System | ODLS is not a county roster and does not search people under 18. |
| Custody notification | VINELink and Alabama victim-notification tools | Notification tools do not replace the roster or court file. |
No official Coosa County Sheriff mobile app was found in the sheriff site navigation, footer, or app-store research. That means the documented channels are the roster, jail phone, in-person office, records request, clerk, ADOC, BOP, ICE, and VINELink.
Coosa County Booking Records
Coosa County does not publish a long booking-process page, but the roster and jail rule pages show the key steps. After arrest or warrant service, the person is brought to Coosa County Jail, admitted into the jail system, photographed, entered into Southern Software and roster systems, and assigned to custody. Personal property is inventoried and stored at booking. The public roster uses Admit Date and Admit Time as the booking timestamp, and the charge grid shows offense date, court type, court date, bond, bond type, charging agency, and arresting agency.
Custody flow: Arrest › transport to Coosa County Jail › intake and property inventory › booking photo and profile entry › charge and bond review › release, continued county custody, transfer, or later ADOC placement.
- Admit Date
- The roster date tied to jail admission.
- Confining Agency
- The agency responsible for custody in the profile.
- Detainer
- A hold or notice from another agency that may affect release.
- Surety Bond
- A bond posted through a professional bonding company licensed for Coosa County.
Coosa County Visitation Schedule
Coosa County Jail publishes a Saturday visitation schedule by housing block. Visitation is a privilege and can be suspended for discipline, rule violations, emergencies, or security needs. Inmates must be incarcerated for one week before visitation privileges and must submit a visitor list before visitation day. Visits last 15 minutes, with no more than two visitors per week. Visitors sign in and out at the dispatch-window roster with ID verification and are searched with a hand-held wand.
| Housing / Cellblock | Day | Time | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| A Block | Saturday | 7:00-9:00 a.m. | General jail visitation rules apply. |
| B Block | Saturday | 9:00-11:00 a.m. | Visitors must be on the inmate list. |
| C Block | Saturday | 12:00-2:00 p.m. | Fifteen-minute visits, maximum two visitors per week. |
| D Block | Saturday | 2:00-3:00 p.m. | Bags, purses, and personal items must stay in vehicles. |
The visitation page bars contact visits except for attorneys, law enforcement, approved clergy, mental-health personnel for evaluations, or special authorization by the sheriff or jail administrator. Children under 10 are not allowed unless a special provision is made, and children under 16 must be with an adult.
Coosa Inmate Mail and Money
Mail, phones, and commissary are separate from the roster but often confirm whether a person is still held. Coosa County Jail inspects, processes, and logs incoming and outgoing inmate mail. Incoming mail is opened for contraband and money. Packages are not accepted through the mail, and mail from another correctional facility is returned to sender. Property rules also matter after intake because personal effects are stored at booking, must be picked up after longer stays, and can be recovered by released inmates only within the posted period.
The commissary page names Kimble's Commissary Services and JailATM. The jail says no cash is accepted for inmate-account deposits except through the Kimble kiosk in the jail lobby or the online vendor channel. The telephone page names NCIC Inmate Communications, with inmate phones available 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily. Posted local, intrastate, interstate, and international rates vary by payment type, and voicemail is capped at three minutes with a posted per-message charge.
Note: Confirm current custody with Coosa County Jail before sending money, planning a visit, or relying on a roster bond field.
